Löytö/Find

Päivän ruokaostoksilla tein löydön. Samoja papereita olen nähnyt varmaankin Suomalaisessa jo aikoja, mutta nyt oli sen verran sopiva tarjous että napasin mukaan. Taisivat olla viimeiset paketit.

While grocery-shopping today I found some stationery. I've seen these same papers many times in different shops, but this time the offer was good enough to take them home. I think these were the last packages as well.

Ja heti pääsi toinen väri käyttöön.

And the other color found use straight away.

Ensimmäinen uusi muumi-merkkikin lähti matkaan.
The first new moomin stamp got use as well.

Lupaamani Postcrossing-kortitkin lähetin. Kummallakaan vastaanottajista ei ollut mitään toiveita, joten tunnelman mukaan valitsin kortit.

I also sent the Postcrossing-cards I promised. Neither of the recipients had any wishes, so I chose the cards on a whim.

Isänmaallista.
Patriotic.

Yksi kirje myös lähti toiselle puolelle maapalloa. Uusi tuttavuus tämäkin.

One letter was sent to the other side of the world. This pal in a new acquaintance as well.

Tarroja/Stickers

Siivoilin kirjoituspöytääni, ja kävin samalla kirjeenvaihtotarvikkeita läpi, joten ajattelinpa laittaa myös tänne blogiin joitakin tarroja, joita on kerääntynyt vuosien varrella.

As I was cleaning my desk, I went through my penpaling stuff, and decided I could post here some of the stickers that have gathered up in my reservoir over the years.

Varmasti ainakin 20 vuotta vanhoja tarroja, jotka on vanhemmilla käydessä joskus lähteneet mukaan.
Surely at least 20y.o. stickers, that have found their way from my parents to my stack .

Vuosia sitten sain kirjekaverilta Ystävänpäivä-tarrapaketin, ja niitä on vielä jäljellä.
Years ago I received from a pen pal some Valentine's stickers, and still some are left.

Muumeja pitää olla, tottakai.
Moomins are a must.

Pari kirjettä myös valmistuu tässä viikonloppuna, ja voisi taas lähettää pari korttia Postcrossingin kautta. Niistä lisää myöhemmin.

Two letters will be finished this weekend as well, and I could send a couple of cards via Postcrossing, too. I'll make a post about those later.

Kaksi kirjettä Eurooppaan/Two letters to Europe

Kirjoitin tänä iltana kaksi kirjettä, Saksaan ja Itävaltaan. Itävalta on uusi tuttavuus. Sain Facebookissa kutsun kirjeenvaihtoryhmään, jossa ollaankin tosi aktiivisia. Monella tuntuu kuitenkin olevan tarkoitus vaan haalia FB-kavereita.

Tonight I wrote two letters, to Germany and Austria. The latter is a new pal, from a pen pal group on Facebook. I got invited to the group, and people seem very active in it. 

Ajattelin tilailla netistä kirjepapereita ja muuta kivaa. Janetstore.comissa ainakin tuntuu olevan kaikkea ihanaa tosi edukkaasti. Jos jollain on kokemuksia tuolta tai muualta tilaamisesta, laittakaa ihmeessä kommenttia.

I thought I would order some stationery online. Janetstore.com seems to have all kinds of cuteness rather inexpensively. If someone out there has any experiences with ordering from there or somewhere else, feel free to comment.

Muutama kortti/A few cards

Tänään oli hieman stressaava matikankoe, joten bloggailukin jäi parilta päivältä väliin.

Kaikki Cheer me up swapit on menneet perille, ja ilokseni vastaanottajat ovat tykänneet kovasti korteista. Pari on itsellenikin jo tullut.

I had a math exam today, so due to slight stress I haven't blogged for a couple of days.

All my sent Cheer me up swaps have been delivered and to my joy the receivers have liked the cards a lot. I have received two of my cards as well.

Lisäksi saapui kirje saksalaiselta kirjekamulta.

Also I received a letter from Germany.

Nallet on ihania.
Teddies are wonderful.

Osallistuin Turtle postcard swapiin (no tietysti), ja lähetin oman korttini jo kumppanilleni. Melko vaikea oli löytää kilpparikorttia, taisi olla neljäs liike missä lykästi.

I participated in a Turtle postcard swap (obviously) and sent mine to my partner already. It was quite tough to find a turtle card, I think it wasn't until the 4th shop when I was lucky.

En olisi melkein raaskinut luopua ostamastani kortista. :)
I almost didn't have the heart to send this out. :)

Juhannusviikonlopun aikaansaannoksia/ Achievements from Midsummer Weekend

Juhannuksena pakkailin valmiiksi oman osuuteni European Flat Mail Swapista.

During the Midsummer weekend I packed up my share of European Flat Mail Swap.

Toiselle oli vaikea keksiä teetä, kun ei tykännyt yrtti-eikä hedelmäteestä, ja niitä on itselläni eniten. :) Laitoin minttuteetä.
It was hard to come up with a tea for the other one, because she doesn't like fruit or herbal tea, and those are the types  I usually have .:) So I sent her mint tea.

Tiikerin päiväuni on yksi  lempiteistäni, ja tyrkytänkin sitä joka välissä kaikille.
Tiger's Daydream is one of my favorite teas, and I send it out any occasion I get.

Näiden lisäksi lähetin ensimmäisen kirjeen Intiaan, vanhemmalle herrasmiehelle, joka on lukenut Suomesta paljon hyvää ja haluaisi tietää lisää.

I also sent a letter to a gentleman in India, who has read many good things about Finland and wants to know more.

Oli pakko ostaa tuota hippo-teippiä, kun oli niin söpöä.
I had to buy that hippo-tape, it was so adorable.

Jännä nähdä miten kauan kirje matkaa Intiaan.

Interesting to see how long it will take for the letter to reach India.

Päätös hiljaiselle viikolle/End to a quiet week

Tämä viikko oli maanantaista keskiviikkoon tosi hiljainen - ei kirjeen kirjettä eikä kortin korttia. Onneksi Juhannuksen alle tuli yksi isompi kirjekuori, joka helpotti ankeaa viikkoa. Sain Alankomaista swapin.

From Monday to Wednesday this week was very quiet - no fun mail at all. Gladly just now before Midsummer's Day I received a bigger envelope, which made a slightly sad week much better. It was a swap from The Netherlands.

Odotan mielenkiinnolla vaahtokarkin makuisen teen maistamista. :)
I can't wait to try marshmallow flavored tea.

Harmi, ettei meillä ole kylpyammetta. Ehkä suola toimii jalkakylpynä.
It's a shame we don't have a bath tub. Maybe I'll try the salt as a foot bath.

Juhannusviikonloppuna pakkailen varmaankin omat kaksi kuortani. Molemmat lähtevät Englantiin.

This weekend I will most likely get my own two envelopes ready. They both head to the UK.

DIY Kirjekuoret/Envelopes

Tässä pyydetty pieni tutoriaali kirjekuorten valmistuksesta. Varmasti on paljon tyylikkäämpiä keinoja tehdä kuoria, mutta itselleni tämä on kätevin. :)

Here's a tutorial I was asked to do about making envelopes. I'm sure there are many more elegant ways of doing them, but I find this convenient. :)

1. Valitse mieleisesi kuva lehdestä.
    Choose a picture you like in a magazine.

Onpas oudon kolmiulotteinen kuva.

 2. Siisti mahdollisesti repeytynyt reuna ja käännä kuoren "päälle" tuleva kuva alaspäin.
     Tidy possibly teared edges and turn the picture you want "on top" of the envelope facing down.

3. Tee pitkille sivuille parin sentin taitteet.
    Make about 2 cm folds to the longer sides.

4. Taita alareuna haluamaltasi matkalta.
    Fold the lower part as you see fit.

 5. Tee samoin yläkulmalle. Jos paperi on kovin iso, teen usein ala- ja/tai yläreunaan vielä yhden parin sentin         taitteen. Parhaiten sen näkee, kun kääntää paperin ja tarkistaa, että kuva tulee halutulle kohdalle.
     Do the same with the upper part. If the paper is very big, I might make another small fold to the upper or lower part. It's best when you turn the paper around and see that the picture is set how you want it.

6. Liimaa taitteet yhteen.
    Glue the folds together.

7. Käytän vielä teippiä varmistukseksi. Yleensä lähettäessä lisään kuvioteippiä sen hetken mielialan mukaan.
    I use adhesive tape to make sure.

Kuoresta tulee ikäänkuin tasku, jonne kirje tms. sujahtaa. Hyvin on toiminut toistaiseksi. Toivottavasti tästä oli jotain apua. Vastailen mielelläni lisäkysymyksiin.

The envelope is sort of a pocket where to put the letter etc. So far it has worked well. 

Swap

Me kaikki kaipaamme piristystä toisinaan, joten osallistuin Swap-botin Cheer me up postcard-swapiin. Löysin ilokseni mielestäni sopivia kortteja.

We all need cheering up every now and then, so I participated in Swap-bot's Cheer me up postcard-swap. To my joy I think I found good cards to suit my partners' likes.

Yksi toivoi kortteja aiheena lukeminen ja lapsuus.
On wished cards with the themes reading and childhood.

Toinen toivoi taidetta ja keijukaisia. Kolmas tykkää kissoista.
The other wished for art and fairies. The third likes cats.

Pinkki oli myös lempiväri.
Pink was also a favorite color.

Mielestäni tosi ilahduttava postimerkki.
I think the stamp is very cheerful.

Minä hymyilin tehdessäni, toivottavasti vastaanottaja hymyilee myös.
I smiled while making this, I hope the receiver will smile, too.

Postilaatikko/Mail Box

Olen viime aikoina miettinyt, missä säilyttäisin kirjeenvaihtoani. Olohuoneen nurkassa on pitkään ollut valkoinen puulaatikko muussa käytössä, mutta nyt se sai uuden tärkeän tehtävän. Kuulemma mummu säilytti siinä aikoinaan hänen ja ukin välistä kirjeenvaihtoa, eli mikäs sen parempi omaankaan käyttöön. Tosin omat kirjeeni eivät liene yhtä romanttisia. :)

Lately I have been thinking about where to store my letters. For a long time there has been a white wooden box in the living room corner, and now it got a new purpose. Apparently grandma used to store her and grandpa's correspondence in the same box, so it fits my purpose perfectly! Although I doubt that my letters are as romantic. :)
